2020/2021 A Resilient Year

The academic year 2020-2021 was a challenging one amidst the COVID-19 pandemic with the programme pivoting from face-to-face (September 2020 to March 2021) to virtual delivery (March to May 2021) and back to face-to-face and virtual (Hybrid approach) for May to June 2021.

This year’s focus was on mental health and psychosocial support for children, facilitators, and parents.

Parent support WhatsApp groups were formed and the relationship with families was strengthened with home visits and phone calls.

The focus for this academic year was on staff development including Resiliency and Wellness coaching as well as certification of all staff in Community Leadership Development. Boys Town is currently under reconstruction.

All Child Resiliency Programme staff were encouraged to take part in the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ COVID vaccination programme with two doses of AstraZeneca.

In addition, Dr. Scott conducted Resiliency and Wellness training for all Joan Duncan Foundation Staff in June 2021.
